SISU’s Faculty and Students Take A Documentary in Niushou Mountain Near Shanghai

The videos taken by the students were edited into a documentary about the culture of Niushou Mountain which is about 250 kilometers northwest of Shanghai.On camera, seven students including three international students shared insights gained from their visit in multiple languages.
The documentary specially detailed the features of architecture on Niushou Mountain.Both classical east Asian aesthetics and modern architecture are represented on Niushou Mountain.For example,the Foding Temple,located at the foot of the mountain,boasts Tang-style architecture and Zen gardens.The Foding Palace incorporates many modern architectural techniques to reflect the Buddhism traits.
Hu Ping,who was invited to present the architectural story of Niushou Mountain,shared on the architectural culture of Niushou Mountain at the photo contest.He said he hoped to deepen students' understanding of Niushou Mountain's architecture and culture through practices.
This documentary also explores the rich tapestry of history and culture surrounding Niushou Mountain in Nanjing. One segment focuses on Yue Fei. It highlights Niushou Mountain as the site where this renowned general fiercely battled the Jin army.
Another part features Zheng He. The mountain is significant as the final resting place of this legendary admiral.Lin Chunke, a postgraduate student from the School of Journalism and Communication,introduced the Zheng He Cultural Pavilion in Spanish in the documentary.Lin said, “This field trip to Niushou Mountain gave me the opportunity to apply the Spanish knowledge I've learned in the classroom.” Lin said that she hopes to overcome language limitations to share Niushou Mountain's traditional culture in Spanish.
The “Niushou Mountain” photography competition was held at SISU ten days after the event.It’s co-orgnized by the School of Journalism and Communication of SISU and Joint Publishing co-organized the photo contest.Pictures taken by the students at Niushou Mountain were shown into photo exhibition wall.
