Launched in January 2022, OMGC focuses on the role of online media in global communication, bridging gaps between English and non-English academic communities. The journal is jointly hosted by SISU’s Center for Global Public Opinion Research of China and the School of Journalism and Communication.
Journal’s Academic Standing and Global Reach
Scopus, curated by Elsevier, is a premier database encompassing peer-reviewed journals, books, and conference proceedings across science, technology, medicine, and the humanities. Inclusion in Scopus signifies rigorous editorial standards and global scholarly recognition.

OMGC has published 13 issues to date, featuring 87 papers from scholars in over a dozen countries across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Africa. Its content spans original research, global trend reviews, and translated non-English academic works, reflecting its commitment to inclusivity.
Behind the Achievement: An Interview with Editor-in-Chief Louisa Ha
In an exclusive interview, Professor Louisa Ha, Editor-in-Chief of OMGC and a renowned scholar in media studies, detailed the team’s journey to Scopus indexing.
"Scopus has stringent criteria for journal quality, including citation impact, editorial rigor, and international diversity," Ha explained. "Our editorial board, comprising 30 distinguished scholars from 26 countries, worked tirelessly to meet these benchmarks. The process involved enhancing peer-review protocols, expanding multilingual accessibility, and ensuring consistent publication quality."
Ha emphasized OMGC’s innovative "dual-track" review system, which combines single-blind and double-blind peer reviews to accommodate authors at different career stages. "This system ensures fairness while maintaining high academic standards," she noted.
The journal’s multilingual approach also played a key role. All papers include structured abstracts translated into eight languages—Chinese, Arabic, French, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, German, and Italian—leveraging SISU’s linguistic expertise to broaden global reach.
Building an Academic Community
Beyond publishing, OMGC fosters dialogue through initiatives like the SISU Image Research and Global Communication Forum, where editorial board members share insights. The journal also collaborates with SISU’s OMGC Interactive Lab, a student club promoting academic translation and dissemination.
"Scopus indexing is just the beginning," Ha said. "We aim to further elevate OMGC as a platform for cutting-edge research and cross-cultural academic exchange."
The achievement is expected to amplify SISU’s research visibility and solidify its role as a leader in global academic communication.
